At Hawthorne Valley Farm, we have been making delicious lacto-fermented vegetables since 1999. It started with a crock, a bumper crop of cabbage, and a little salt. The results were a hit, and we have been making sauerkraut (and now lots of other products) ever since! These hand-crafted foods are sold at the Farm Store, are available from our market stands at the Union Square, Columbia, and Inwood Greenmarkets in New York City, at the Hudson Farmer’s Market in Hudson, NY, and can be ordered by our CSA members. We have suspended online sale of our lacto-fermented products for the foreseeable future. A select list of items are also available via Wholesale and at retail markets throughout the Northeast. Our product line currently includes: Plain, Caraway, Curry, and Jalapeno sauerkrauts; Ginger Carrots, Kim Chee; Beet Kvass; Hot Pepper Sauce, Plain Sauerkraut Juice and Kim Chee Aid; as well as seasonal offerings.
