Hawthorne Valley Purchases Farm on Schnackenberg Road

Harlemville, NY–Hawthorne Valley is happy to announce the purchase of the 52-acre Twin Maple Farm on Schnackenberg Road in Ghent, NY. For many years, Hawthorne Valley Farm has farmed this land as part of its overall herd management system, grazing livestock and cutting hay.

Recently, we were given the opportunity to acquire the land on October 9, 2015 through the help of patient capital partners. This is one of the first steps in Hawthorne Valley’s plan for securing agricultural land as a way to endow the future for food production and educational space. Currently, HVF owns about 450 acres of land and farms an additional 400 acres on neighboring properties. Working to preserve the land base for our farm operation will allow Hawthorne Valley to continue to co-create a regenerative, resilient and just economy and ensure the future development and success of the Association as a whole.
