School Program Assistant Kitchen Manager and Educator
Beginning in April, our Visiting Students Program has a large number of classes visiting the farm. The School Program Kitchen Manager is in need of an Assistant to provide meals and snacks for the large number of students.
Responsibilities for this position include: being well versed on food allergies and dietary restrictions, understanding the laws and requirements for safe food handling and kitchen management. You must be able to work well with others in tight quarters, have an excellent work ethic and be able to communicate clearly. This position requires standing for long hours in hot working conditions and requires the ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. The applicant should have a minimum of two years of experience in a high volume food service operation and must be able to work with children in a kitchen setting and have excellent people skills.
This position has a flexible start date of April 1 to April 30, 2016. The salary range is $13 to $15 per hour based upon experience and includes room and board. Our residential school programs operate Monday through Friday with an occasional weekend day. This position will end on June 10.
There is an opportunity to transition into the summer camp position of Kitchen Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager & Educator based on level of experience. There will be a week off prior to the start of Camp counselor training on June 20 when the compensation will adjust to the camp rates. To be eligible for either the Camp Kitchen Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager the candidate needs to commit to working through August 13.
