Day Camp Position Descriptions
Kids Can Cook
Kids Can Cook day camp staff is responsible for guiding children ages 8 to 13 through daily farm, cooking, craft, swimming and garden activities during each 10-day camp session. Counselors need to have a strong commitment to creating experiences that will connect children to the land and foster a greater ecological awareness in later life. The staff must have a passion for and love of children and the ability to be creative, patient and flexible. Campers will be coming to us from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural and financial backgrounds. This camp has three (3) two-week day camp sessions and one paid week of training and one paid week of breakdown. Applicants must be able to commit to all eight (8) weeks to be considered for hire. You will work a scheduled six (6) day week, Monday through Friday with mandatory weekend hours. Kids Can Cook maintains a 2:6 counselor to camper ratio.
Mandatory Training – June 20 – 25 (you must be available for the full training)
Camp Duration – June 27 – August 6 (day camp is held on July 4th; you must be available for the full duration of camp)
Mandatory Breakdown – August 8 – August 13 (you must be available for the full week)
Working Hours – 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Reports directly to the Camp Manager. Senior Counselors offer lead and supporting roles throughout the camp day, assist with set up, clean up, and engage enthusiastically in all camp activities. Candidates must have at least one year of camp experience and a basic interest in farming, cooking and crafts. Senior Counselors must be 21 years of age. Nearby housing can be made available for candidates with reliable transportation. Commutable from Hudson, Chatham, Claverack, Hillsdale and Copake.
Salary Range – $1,700 – $2,000 depending upon housing needs and commensurate with experience and certifications, First Aid/CPR/AED and Waterfront Lifeguard re-certification available.
Works with Senior Counselors under the direction of the Camp Manager and offers supporting rolls throughout the camp day, assist with set up and cleanup of activities and engage campers in fun activities and meaningful work in a farm based setting. Junior Counselors must be at least 16 years of age with valid working papers. There is no housing available to Junior Counselors.
Salary Range – $1,000 – $1,500 for the season commensurate with experience, you must have reliable transportation. Commutable from Hudson, Chatham, Claverack, Hillsdale and Copake
