A 700-acre Demeter certified 650A Biodynamic farm in central Columbia County, NY

Overnight Farm Camp

The Overnight Farm Camps seek to build reverence for life and community awareness through living, playing and working together on an active biodynamic farm. Children feed the animals, clean the barn, collect chicken eggs, garden, horseback ride, hike, learn nature based arts and crafts, sing, swim and eat delicious vegetarian organic meals.

Our camp sessions are divided into one- to four-week sessions for ages 8 to 16. As the child develops, so do the challenges of each session. In the House Camp (for children ages 8 to 12), activities for the older campers include archery (focus and concentration); navigation using a map and compass (skill and determination to find their way back to the camp); Olympic Day (physical strength and endurance); wood carving (patience), and many others. The Field Campers (ages 12 to 16), are challenged to become the farm’s “Junior Apprentices” working with our professional staff members. In addition, cultural outings like the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and attending plays, enhance the Field Campers’ experience.

A spring-fed pond serves as our swim facility. It is state-inspected and supervised by trained lifeguards. The Dining Hall serves child-friendly meals prepared from scratch using biodynamic and organic ingredients. Campers and staff eat together family-style, fostering the community-building spirit of the camp. Meals are vegetarian and use farm-fresh eggs, and fruits and vegetables from our gardens and from other farms in the area.

Our staff consists of six full-time, year-round personnel and eighteen summer counselors. We maintain a 3:1 camper to adult ratio. The program is monitored and licensed by the NY State Department of Health.

House Campers (ages 8 to 12) and staff live together in a large farmhouse. Field Campers (ages 12 to 16) and their counselors share a campsite in a shady glen in the northeast corner of the farm.

Camp fees include all meals, field trips, and camp-related costs.
